Bark Box Initial Review
Introduction
I noticed Bark Box a while ago through some Google ads and wondered about trying it but it seemed pricey and not really a need at the time, but I decided to give them a try. My dog has gotten a little bored the last few months and is always excited to see what’s in packages that arrive even though the contents are rarely for him. This review will be for the regular Bark Box subscription that costs $25/month with a 6 month commitment. With shipping and taxes, each month costs $32.84. By regular I mean non heavy chewer and no additional ad ons. We will be looking at the price compared to value received, how happy my dog was with it, and durability:
Price
For each $32.84 monthly charge you receive 2 plush toys and 2 4oz bags of treats. For the first box, it was double that number (4 toys and 4 bags of treats). This is on the pricey side for plush toys but possibly worth it since my dog does like these kinds of toys since they can be destroyed.
Dog Satisfaction
My dog is not hard to please but really seemed to enjoy having a bunch of plush toys that both squeak and he can tear apart. I tend to buy very durable toys which can be boring for him since he knows he can’t destroy them. In terms of the treats, they smell very good especially the cinnamon pumpkin recipe. I am sure they don’t taste great for humans but they smell like they would.
Durability
Two of the toys were destroyed basically within a couple of minutes of my dog picking them up. He is a 100+lb doberman so he can definitely destroy things if he wants to but didn’t have to work too hard to destroy 2 of the 4 toys quickly. The other two he has been slowly destroy over the last week but are still functional toys. It is kind of nice to have non permanent toys that I don’t feel back throwing away when they get destroyed or gross though.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for something to spice up your dog’s life that you can put on auto pilot, I think Bark Box is a great option. I do recommend getting the heavy chewer subscription if your dog is even a medium chewer because those toys will get destroyed fast even with light chewing for the normal subscription. You can always just do it for 6 months and then cancel and pick it up again if you don’t want to pay for this every month. It’s probably a better dog gift that you can give to dog owners you know if you can’t think of anything to give them.
