Dog Food – Birthday Cake Recipe
Today, my Doberman celebrates his 3rd birthday, so I decided to bake him a cake, but not just any cake—a dog-friendly cake that would be both delicious and healthy for him, a great alternative to dog food for special occasions. After some research, I stumbled upon a fantastic recipe on Crazyforcrust.com that promised to be a hit with dogs. Spoiler alert: it was a huge success, earning a solid 5-star review from my dog.
Ingredients and Preparation

Making the Frosting
For frosting, I just made whipped cream from heavy cream, no sugar added since that’s not something dogs should have in high quantities.
Decorating the Cake
As you can see in the photo above, just the three year birthday candle but plenty for him – he is a dog after all.
The Big Reveal
I think he knew this cake was for him because he kept coming to the kitchen to check on what I was doing, more than normal even for a Doberman so he got to lick the peanut butter spoon and got an early taste of the whipping cream.
A 5-Star Review
I doubled the ingredients since he was going to share which meant the cake totaled about 3,000 calories…he ended up eating 75% of it so it goes without saying that he will be skipping dinner. Definitely a 5 star review from him.
Final Thoughts
This recipe is super simple and easy to follow, all the ingredients are super safe for dogs (unless your dog has unusual allergies), and I highly recommend. My dog is picky so the fact that he dug in right away was a ringing endorsement.
