Viral Clips – Is growling acceptable?

So this TikTok has been around for a while where what looks like an aggressive dog is growling and baring its teeth while the owner (I assume?) pets it. You can see this clip here:

Here’s the rub – I understand you have your special relationship with your dog and certainly some level of vocalization is fine for a dog playing but this is too much. Regardless of whether it is actually aggression, it does read as dog aggression and at best your dog doesn’t know those types of signals are unacceptable in dealing with humans or at worst it’s actual aggression and you’re at a risk of being bitten. Again, I’m sure there’s more context and some sort of special relationship involved but do not encourage this type of behavior in your dog folks. There’s no good outcome.
